Curbside Pickup FAQs

How many items can I check out?

You can check out up to 5 items at a time per library card user. The checkout period will be 30 days for all items.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes. The staff is adhering to CDC guidelines for safety. Staff will be wearing masks and gloves and you must wear a mask at the time of curbside pickup in order to take advantage of this service.

How does it work?

Place a hold on library items through the online catalog at https://dlc.lib.de.us or by calling the library at (302) 834-4148. You will receive a phone call when your holds are ready to be picked up. Drive to the library and call us at (302) 834-4148 to let us know you have arrived. Please remain in your vehicle. A staff member will deliver your items to your trunk. You must wear a mask during pickup to qualify for curbside pickup.  Pickup is Tuesday and Thursday 12-7:30 and Saturday 11-1.

Can I return library materials?

Yes, the outside book drop is open. Please note, returned items are being quarantined for 72 hours before being checked-in and recirculated. Because of this, it may take up to five days for a returned item to appear as “returned” in your account. But don’t worry – there are no fines or late fees right now.

I don’t have a library card. Can I check out items?

You can apply for a library card online. Visit https://delawarecity.lib.de.us/online/ to sign up for a library card online. Once your online application is complete, you will be able to check out materials. If this is the first time you’re picking up items from the library please be sure to let library staff know. We’ll go through a quick verification process with you.

Please call (302) 834-4148 with any questions! We look forward to seeing you!
